Individual Grants for Children
with Special Needs

These grants are available for individual children with a qualifying special need. If a family has more than one qualifying child they can apply for each child. The grants are intended to help cover costs specific to the identified child.

Current Grant Opportunities

The family determines the purpose for the grant and some of the typical requests include:

  • Insurance deductibles and co-pays
  • Medication not covered by insurance
  • Medical care
  • Funds for gasoline to travel to medical facilities
  • Adaptive equipment
  • Sensory support items such as weighted vests, chewables, swings, etc.
  • Specialized camps and day programs
  • Child care for individuals that still require child care past the typical age or who aren’t successful in a regular day care setting
  • Respite care
  • Counseling
  • Parenting classes
  • Conferences or seminars on the child’s specific need
  • Other needs as determined by the family will be considered

The maximum grant amount is dependent on the amount of funding we have available. The grant cycle runs from July 1st to June 30th each year and individuals may request assistance more than once during that time period as long as they don’t exceed the maximum available.
